Modified Unit Triumph Desert Oil Tank

If your building a Unit Triumph Desert sled one of the things on your wish list is probably a Bates seat…

But to fit a Bates seat you will need to modify your oil tank by removing the original oil tank filler under the seat and move it to the outside, we like to have them coming out of the back at an angle. The pictures show an example of the one we fitted to our 502 Bike.

This was done for 2 reasons:

1.  When fitting a Bates seat you no longer have the option to lift up the seat with the hinges to check your oil level.
2.  Because Bates made the seats as a Universal fit to fit any bike not just Triumph’s they hit the original oil tank filler and sometimes the oil tank froth tower depending on what year oil tank you have.

If you look at old Desert Sled pictures of Unit Triumph’s most of them have Bates seats and most of them have modified oil tanks like this.

In order to modify your own oil tank you will need to send this to us in the post. If you would like to go for this option please select it in the drop down box this price is plus postage when sending it back to you £180.00

We can also supply a used oil tank and modify to suit your year and model bike. We would always need to know the year and model of your bike. Cost for us to supply and modify £280.00

The work we carry out when modifying is as follows:

• Remove all old paint in a chemical acid dip
• The original oil filler is removed and blanked off and relocated on the outside like pictures.
• The back of the oil tank is opened up and we relocate the oil return tube so you are able to see that your oil is still returning
• Froth tower relocated if needed.
• Pressure test for leaks once works have been completed

Our modified oil tanks will be unpainted like the pictures.
